Which NBA Finals Team/Player Is under the most Pressure to Win?

Is it the Cavs? Who just came back from down 3-1 in the 2016 NBA Finals. Or is it the Warriors? Who just signed Kevin Durant in the offseason. Lets just put it as the team I discuss here lost the Finals this year.

The Cavs lost to the Warriors in the finals. LeBron is now 3-8 in finals and no longer close to being the GOAT (greatest of all time), and the Warriors get their revenge for last year, and be the new defending champions.

The Warriors lost to the Cavaliers in the finals. Kevin Durant’s move has no purpose now, the Warriors are 1-2 in the last 3 NBA Finals, they are no longer close to being the greatest team of all time, LeBron is one step closer to being the GOAT, and people will say for the next year that no matter who Golden State signs they are no match for LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.

The Warriors are under way more pressure than the Cavs to win the 2017 NBA Finals.

Which player is under the most pressure to win the NBA Finals this year?

Kevin Durant. Remember that KD hasn’t won a finals in his career yet. Durant would go 0-2 against LeBron in finals if the Dubs lose. He would be criticized for years for leaving OKC just to lose again in the finals. And the Warriors team would also be criticized for losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers twice in a row even after adding KD.

NBA Finals Game One: Warriors Dominate

warriors win1

On Thursday night we got Warriors vs Cavs in the finals for the 3rd time in a row. There has never been the same teams three times in a row in the NBA finals. In 2015 the Warriors won 4-2. In 2016 the Cavaliers won 4-3. And after game one the Warriors look incredible. The Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 113-91. Kevin Durant took over in this game with 38 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. Steph Curry also contributed with 28 points, 10 assists, and 6 threes. Klay Thompson had another rough shooting night with 6 points and shooting 3 for 16 overall. LeBron James was playing in his 7th straight NBA finals. He ended game one though with 8 turnovers. That is double the amount of turnovers Golden State had. The Warriors finished the game with a total of 4 turnovers. LeBron did have a good game though, with 28 points and 15 rebounds. Tristan Thompson didn’t even score in this game. The Warriors outscored Cleveland by 8 in the first half and by 14 in the second half. Kevin Love grabbed a incredible 21 rebounds in game one. Another interesting stat was that the Warriors got 12 steals and the Cavs had none, also for every Warriors turnover the Cavs had 5 turnovers. Golden State finished with 31 assists and 43% shooting. Golden State now leads in the finals 1-0. “They’re the best I’ve seen,” Cavalier’s coach Tyronn Lue said after the game one blow out. Game 2 of the 2017 NBA Finals is on Sunday at 7pm CT on ABC. Comment on who you think will win the finals.

Warriors Move On

dbs1

The Golden State Warriors moved on to the NBA Finals on Monday night after defeating the San Antonio Spurs 129-115, completing the sweep of the Spurs. Golden State hasn’t lost in the NBA playoffs, they are 12-0 headed into the Finals. Steph Curry picked up a nice 36 points and Durant scored 29. The Warriors shot 56% overall with 53 rebounds, 30 assists, and 14 threes. The Spurs played well though, making mini runs that got the lead down to 10 or 11 at times. They had 56 bench points to the Warriors’ 32. But the Warriors starting lineup out scored the Spurs starters. Manu Ginobili may have played his last career game on Monday. I my opinion he should be a hall-of-famer. Kyle Anderson scored 20 off the bench for San Antonio. “It’s great to be one of the last two teams standing, we’ll see how it goes,” said Kevin Durant after the game. “An amazing competitor, even more fun playing against him,” Durant also said after Monday’s game about Manu Ginobili. The Warriors have won the last 5 games now against San Antonio, they will go to their 3rd straight NBA Finals. Golden State is 1-1 in their last 2 Finals. All-NBA Teams

The All-NBA teams are here. The best players from this NBA season will be on these teams. Players who are on these teams are more likely to get a bonus in pay if they resign with their team. And there are only three of these teams so lets get into them!

ALL-NBA FIRST TEAM:

Guards: Russell Westbrook, James Harden.

Forwards: Kawhi Leonard, LeBron James. I think that Kevin Durant should be in place of Kawhi Leonard, Durant is better on offense and he is doing great on defense and his team won 67 games.

Center: Anthony Davis.

ALL-NBA SECOND TEAM:

Guards: Stephen Curry, Isaiah Thomas.

Forwards: Kevin Durant, Giannas Antetokounmpo.

Center: Rudy Gobert.

ALL-NBA THIRD TEAM:

Guards: John Wall, DeMar DeRozen.

Forwards: Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green.

Center: DeAndre Jordan. I think DeMarcus Cousins or Marc Gasol should have gotten in here over Jordan because Cousins scored a lot and same with rebounding and did well, but his team did bad. Gasol scored great, rebounded well and played some defense as well.

These are the All-NBA Teams. Paul George didn’t make the teams so that could put his future with Indiana in jeopardy. Same with Gordon Hayward.

Warriors Domination

warriorrs copyThe Golden State Warriors dominated the Portland Trailblazers in game 4 last night to complete the series sweep. Curry scored back-to-back 30+ point performances including 7 threes in game 4. The Warriors won 128-103 and scored 45 in the first quarter, tying the playoff record for points in a playoff first quarter. The Warriors starters scored 97 points and their bench scored 31. Golden State exploded from three with 59% shooting and 17 makes from behind the arc. Without Steve Kerr Golden State held off the Blazers and became the second team to sweep in this year’s playoffs. The Warriors started the game 22-3 and ended the first quarter leading 45-22. “We knew if we threw the first punch, we knew it would overwhelm them a bit, especially being up 3-0,” Kevin Durant said after the game. Durant played in this game after missing 2 games in a row. Golden State might be without their head coach Steve Kerr for the remainder of the playoffs due to an ailing back. The Warriors will either face the Clippers or the Jazz next round.

Exciting Weekend for the Playoffs

First: The Grizzlies beat the Spurs in game 4 off a Marc Gasol buzzer beater. Second: Stephen Curry led the Warriors to a road victory by 6 against the Blazers in game 3. Third: The Cavaliers won off of a missed shot by Paul George to win the series. And Fourth: The Houston Rockets extended their lead over OKC to 3-1 as they won by some OKC missed free throws and some made free throws by Houston.

For me the most exciting game was the Houston vs OKC game. Steven Adams perfectly missed a free throw and then kicked it out to Westbrook for a deep three to give them hope of winning. For me that was the most exciting part of the game, but Houston did come back to win from down 12 in the third. But OKC might not be done yet. We saw Golden State come back from down 3-1 to beat the Thunder last year in the West Finals, and we also saw Cleveland become the first team to come back from down 3-1 to win the NBA Finals. So they might not be done yet.

Back to Indiana now for the first series win of the playoffs. Cleveland beat the Indiana Pacers in game 4 to clinch the first round series. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving combined for 61 points. James played 44 minutes and scored 33. The Cleveland Cavaliers ended the game with only 11 assists 29% shooting from three. I don’t feel like 11 assists will get you past a lot of teams, except the Pacers. But Cleveland moves on to play either the Bucks or the Raptors.

Those were my favorite games from last weekend in the NBA Playoffs, comment on your favorite games upcoming or past! For me I can’t wait for the NBA Finals, 37 day countdown starts now!

Is it a Sweep?

Is it a sweep or not? I will name a series in the NBA Playoffs where a team is either up by two games (2-0) or up three games (3-0). And I will say if it is a sweep or not. Comment on if you think it will be a sweep.

WARRIORS 2-0 BLAZERS. I say it’s a sweep, mostly because the way the Warriors were playing in game 2 without Kevin Durant. The Warriors held the Blazers to 33% shooting, that’s great defense considering that you don’t have Kevin Durant playing for you that game. The Warriors have a way with getting everyone involved with passing and they can also score better than Portland, so the only way the Blazers win a game is if the Warriors struggle and the Blazers don’t.

ROCKETS 2-0 THUNDER. Not a sweep. If there is any series that is guaranteed to not be a sweep it is this series. We have Russell Westbrook playing against these Rockets, thats a pretty good reason for why this is not a sweep. But the team needs to be scoring together and needs to be playing as a whole for OKC in order to win. Westbrook can’t be the only one scoring. But the Rockets are going into OKC for game three, a tough place to win at especially in the playoffs.

WIZARDS 2-0 HAWKS. Not a sweep. The Hawks aren’t really playing that badly this series against the Wizards. They had the scoring there from the starters in game 2 but the bench didn’t come through, scoring only 14 points. Their starters scored 87 points to the Wizards 84. So the starters scoring was practically the same but the Wizards bench outscored the Hawks bench 25-14, and the Wizards shot 5% better from the field and 11.8% better form three. The Hawks defense forced 18 turnovers in game 2, but they need to get the percentages and scoring up to win.

BULLS 2-0 CELTICS. Not a sweep. The Celtics should win a game against the Bulls with Rajon Rondo now out for the Bulls, but the Bulls still look good. Isaiah Thomas is scoring great numbers but his teammates need to step up the scoring. The Celtics don’t look like the first seed that they are. Their rebounding is not good at all on offense and defense. The Celtics need scoring and rebounding to win in game 3.

CAVALIERS 3-0 PACERS. Sweep. This is definitely a sweep. The Cavs just came back from down 25 at halftime in game 3. The Pacers looked great in the first half when they were killing Cleveland, but LeBron took over in the second half. All these games have been close but I don’t see the Pacers taking game 4.

Three Upsets

First, the Toronto Raptors got blown out at home in game one against the Milwaukee Bucks. Second, the Los Angeles Clippers lost at home in game one by a Joe Johnson buzzer-beater. And Third, the 1 seeded Celtics lost at home to the Chicago Bulls on TNT. The Bulls winning streak on TNT apparently exists even in the NBA Playoffs.

BUCKS 97-83 RAPTORS. The Raptors got destroyed in game one by a Giannis Antetokounmpo led Bucks team. The rookie, Malcolm Brogden, also did his part to win the game for the Bucks as he scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Toronto did terrible in this game, their All-Star Kyle Lowry only scored 4 points and the Raptors shot 36% overall and 22% from three. They also only passed for 15 assists and turned the ball over 10 times, as opposed to the Bucks 5 turnovers and 45% shooting. Hopefully for Toronto they can do better and improve going into game 2 trailing 1-0.

JAZZ 97-95 CLIPPERS. Despite losing the Clippers didn’t preform terribly. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin combined for 51 points, 14 assists, and 14 rebounds. But somehow they still lose even though the Jazz were missing Rudy Gobert, their star defensive player. Joe Johnson had 21 points off the bench, including the game winner over Jamal Crawford. The Jazz shot 48% overall, 42% from three, and 47 bench points. While the Clippers shot 44% overall, 33% from three, and 20 bench points. The Clippers have a good chance to win game two, but they will have to go harder than they did in game 1.

BULLS 106-102 CELTICS. The Bulls pulled off an unlikely upset over the 1st seed. Chicago’s winning streak on TNT continues into the NBA Playoffs. Isaiah Thomas played well the whole game but that wouldn’t be enough to beat Chicago. Jimmy Butler took over in the fourth quarter for the Bulls, while Isaiah Thomas didn’t get a lot of help in scoring from his teammates. We will see if the Bulls can pull another upset in game two to go up 2-0 headed home to Chicago. Isaiah Thomas will play in game 2 but probably not in game 3, so he can spend time with his family after losing his sister in a car accident. Game 2 is in Boston on TNT, can the Bulls keep the streak?

Warriors vs Blazers recap

sckd1   cjdl

Warriors 121-109 Blazers. The Portland Trailblazers played incredibly as they kept up with the Golden State Warriors for three quarters. The fourth quarter was all Warriors though as they outscored the Blazers 33-21. CJ McCollum was unbelievable, scoring 41 points and 8 rebounds. But Draymond Green stole the show from McCollum, as he collected 19 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists, 5 blocks, and 3 steals. Green played great on the defensive end as he had one of his best defensive games ever. Durant and Curry both shined as they combined for 61 points and 15 rebounds. Game two is in Oracle Arena, Oakland as the Warriors try to extend their lead to 2-0.
